Showing Up for Community: Why Volunteering Matters to Me

This past Sunday, I spent time volunteering at the Love Live Local Festival in Hyannis, stepping in to support vendors during their breaks and doing whatever else was needed to help things run smoothly. Tomorrow, I'll be spending the day volunteering at Cape Wellness Collaborative's golf tournament assisting with the "closet to the pin" contest and wherever I'm needed. Why do I make time to do this? Because I believe showing up for our community matters. Supporting local isn't something that I say it's something I do. Volunteering gives me a way to stay connected, contribute in a meaningful way, and be part of something bigger than myself. I've found that giving time and presence especially to organizations that are making a real differece feels like a natural extension of the work I already do with Reiki: being of service, creating space, and supporting others. Cape Cod is such a special place. I'm grateful I get to give bck to the community that continues to give so much to me.
